Principal's Message

2021-2020 School Year Update

To the Washington School Community:

I am delighted to continue with the vibrant and engaged community at Washington School as your Principal for the 2021-2021 school year. What great work we will accomplish together!

This is my second year as the Principal of this dynamic and thriving school community. Yes, my first year as Principal was during a global pandemic! I previously served as the Assistant Principal of Washington after moving from Orange County where I spent fifteen years as an Elementary School teacher and Instructional Coach. I believe that challenges make us stronger if we collaborate with those around us, as has been proven through our work in the past 3 years.

These overarching beliefs drive my work in education:

  • School should be a level playing field for ALL students.
  • Students have the most success when we provide freedom and choice within a structure.
  • Challenge is an opportunity for growth.
  • Long-term change takes long-term investment.

While maintaining high expectations for ALL students, I am eager to expand our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) work, particularly with academic interventions. I also look forward to building staff, student, and family understanding of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Systems (PBIS) in place at Washington. We are focused on teaching students how they SHOULD behave and motivating them to do so.

I can’t wait to see you all again soon as we work together for “Every child, every chance, every day.”

HERE, TOGETHER!
