Our Library is the heart of our school. Our new building is inviting and engaging. Mrs. Szumski is our beloved librarian and she is always eager to assist students in cultivating a love of reading.
One of our priorities this school year is to promote reading. We want students to learn to read and love literature. READ, baby, READ! All students at Washington will have reading goals through the Accelerated Reader Program and can take AR tests in the library. We would love for students to read 1 million words this year! Go Wildcats!
All Wildcats have scheduled library time and are invited to check out books. Parents can have accounts too!
This year our library will host 2 cohorts of families as part of the Latino Literacy Project. This program is designed to establish family reading routines for Spanish speaking and English speaking parents and their children at Washington. It involves family reading, vocabulary development, and English language development for parents and their children.
We are always on the lookout for more books, so don't hesitate to contact the school if you have appropriate books to donate.
